Character Name: Yukio Okumura
Series: Blue Exorcist
Canon Point: Pre-canon, a few weeks after Shiro asks him to become an exorcist and he begins training.

Personality: Yukio is, simply put, a rather innocent child at the moment. He has lived a sheltered life under the protection of his father and brother. He gets sick often, and therefore is a very weak and frail child. He is constantly hiding behind his older twin. He is gentle and kind, and has simple, childish dreams of growing up to become a doctor. On the surface, he seems to be happy.
That said, Yukio is not at all a normal child, and he is not having a proper upbringing. As much as he pretends he is innocent, he has had to suffer at the hands of the darkness in his world for too long. Being born with the ability to see demons, Yukio is constantly targeted by spirits. He is tormented by them, harmed by them, and frightened by them almost constantly. He is exposed to the secret evil of the spirit world, and in that, is also exposed to the evil in the real world. He is often bullied as children are unable to understand that he is telling the truth about seeing supernatural entities. He is labelled a freak, and he often worries if the bullies are telling the truth about him. He is self-conscious and unsure of himself, unable to even tell his own brother about his hopes and dreams... and unfortunately, he is just starting to head down a road that will require him to hide more and more from his twin.
Due to Yukio's ability to see spirits, Yukio's adoptive father, Shiro, thinks he is the perfect candidate to become an exorcist. His father is extremely protective of Rin, and thus is going to train Yukio and model him into becoming a tool for Rin's well-being. Yukio is being taught to do things no child should ever have to do: in a few short weeks training under his father, he's had to learn how to administer emergency first aid, how to wield a gun, how to attack demons of all types. He is being taught that if he learns all of this, he will be able to protect everyone, including-and especially-his brother.
Of course Yukio believes it all. He is still a child, after all, and a child does what their told without giving it any thought. He doesn't see anything strange about what he is learning. He does know that he must keep his training a secret from Rin, but he still believes this is what any child like him would have to learn. He doesn't know that he is being expected to do dangerous things. He's still looking at the world of exorcism through a filter, ignoring the blood he may be expected to shed and just remembering this is all to become stronger. To protect everyone. To be loved by his father just as much as Rin is. The expectations are weighing on him just slightly, but he is determined to push through and do his very best.
All of these expectations, paired with his low self-confidence, his feeling of being stuck in Rin's shadow, and his less than proper training under Shiro, will damage him later in life... but that is later. Currently, Yukio is still a little boy who will do anything for his loving family, and currently, he hopes to grow up to be the strongest exorcist of them all.
Powers/Abilities: Being much younger, Yukio is not as experienced as his present self is, but he does have some unique abilities. He received a Temptaint at birth, granting him the power to see demons and other supernatural creatures. He is currently training under his father to gain the abilities to fight these creatures, but so far, has only learned some basics. That said, he is a natural with a gun, able to hit bullseyes rather consistently even at his age, and has good understanding of first aid procedures due to dealing with his illnesses and his brother's injuries.
